How to Fix a Stuck Astron FTV5550 55-inch Google TV (Firmware Flashing Guide)


I ran into a nightmare with my 55-inch Astron FTV5550 55" 4K Ultra HD Google TV recently—it suddenly froze on the boot logo and refused to load up. If you're dealing with the same bricked screen, audio glitches, or Netflix error codes, you don't need to bring it to a repair shop just yet.

Flashing the firmware via USB brings the TV back to life. Below is the exact step-by-step process I used to recover my own unit.

This firmware package is strictly for Astron FTV5550 55" Google TV units purchased and distributed within the Philippines.

Read every single step carefully before starting. Interrupting the update or using the wrong firmware will permanently ruin (brick) your TV's mainboard. Proceed at your own risk and follow instructions strictly.

  • Reliable Power Source: Do not attempt this during unstable weather or potential blackouts.

Step-by-Step Flashing Procedure

Step 1: Format Your USB Drive to FAT32



  1. Plug your USB drive into your computer.

  2. Open This PC, right-click the USB drive, and select Format.

  3. Set the File System to FAT32 and click Start.

Note: The TV’s low-level bootloader cannot detect NTFS or exFAT file systems when cold-booting. FAT32 is required.

Step 2: Prepare the Firmware File


  1. Download MTK9602_GoogleTV.zip.

  2. Extract the archive using your PC's unzipping tool.

  3. Inside, locate the file named upgrade_image_no_tvcertificatecusdatatvconfig_user_sa_20260722.pkg.

  4. Copy this .pkg file directly into the root folder of your USB drive (do not put it inside any subfolder, and do not rename it).

Step 3: Trigger the Force Update

Since the TV is stuck on the startup logo and you can't reach the settings menu, you need to trigger a hardware force-update:

  1. Unplug the TV power cable from the wall socket.

  2. Insert your prepared USB flash drive into the TV's USB 2.0 port (usually the black or white port, not the blue USB 3.0 port).

  3. Press Button, Hold and Plug the TV back into the power socket. While pressing the power button, plugin it back to power source. 

  4. Keep pressing. Simply wait a few seconds while keeping your eye on the TV indicator light.

  5. The front indicator light will begin blinking red rapidly, or the screen will switch to a "LOADING DATA... 1%" progress bar.

Step 4: Let the Update Finish

  • The process takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes.

  • ⚠️ DO NOT turn off the TV, pull the power plug, or remove the USB drive while it is updating. Doing so will permanently destroy the system board.

  • Once completed, the TV will restart automatically.

Step 5: Perform a Factory Reset

After the TV boots back up to the main setup screen, complete the initial setup steps, then run a full factory reset to clear out lingering cached data:

  1. Press HOME on your remote.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Navigate to System > About.

  4. Select Reset and confirm.

Once the reboot completes, your TV should run smoothly without any of the previous software glitches.
